I learned about the "Keep It Wild" geotag back in 2020. The movement started in Jackson Hole in an effort to reduce traffic in sensitive areas and discourage ill-prepared hikers who blindly follow social media geotags. The purpose is not to gate-keep these locations, but rather inspire leave no trace efforts and protect these wild places.

 

Awe and appreciation for natural places inspire our drive to them. Photography and writing has always served as a creative outlet for me, and I'm proud to incorporate it with my passion for the environment. I started @KeepItWildxRiley on Instagram where I shared photos I took exploring in the outdoors using the geotag "Tag Responsibly, Keep _____ Wild." This blog provides me with opportunities to dive into deeper depths about the moments behind the photos.

Environmental degradation devastates millions of people and places across the world. I hope my page doesn't encourage you to turn a blind eye to this, but rather inspires you to take action to create a sustainable future.
